Merci Beaucoup!
The story of me getting onstage with Green Day is far of being the most special... Billie didn’t choose me, he didn’t give me his guitar and I didn’t crowd surfed. But the moment I was beside my three all time heroes has been simply the best of my entire life. It happened at my fist Green Day gig, on August 20 2010 in Quebec City. During 2000 Light Years Away, when Billie told everybody to get on stage, I knew I could make one of my wildest dreams come true. I yelled at the security guard to pick me, but he laughed at my face and ignored me. I didn’t want to give up that easily, so I continued to beg him to help me to cross the gate and get on the stage. He finally approved, picked me and sat me on the stage, right in front of Billie Joe. At this point my thoughts were like; “Oh. My. God. I’m on stage with my all time favourite band. I’m realizing something I’ve always thought it was impossible to do.” I immediately got up, looked at Billie, and he smiled back at me. I can’t remember a time in my existence where I felt happier than this. So I went next to Billie and I started to sing along. This was so unreal; I wasn’t sure if I was dreaming or not. When I got back into the crowd, I had to ask my friend if this actually really happened. Today, even if several months have passed, I still can’t believe I had this chance. I’m forever thankful to Green Day for what they did for me that night, because getting on stage wasn’t the only thing; the show was totally amazing. They did songs, as Homecoming and Whatsername, I never thought I could hear live someday. The energy they brought, the fun they seemed to have when they were playing and the connection they had with the crowd was incredible. I’d do anything to live that night again!
